Wynnum Jetty DF65 30th Sept 2026
Another magic day for DF65 sailors racing off the Wynnum Jetty yesterday. A perfect morning, warm and sunny with a 4-6 knot Northeasterly breeze. This was a social day on the water, we had nine boats playing in the waves, a bit of tunning and swapping boats to see if the boat was the issue or the operator.
The Buoybots were in action, we do not have too many opportunities to fully demonstrate the system’s automated course functions, but the Jetty is a perfect place. Using the Buoybots allowed for the start line to be set close to the Jetty and the course aligned perfectly to the wind. We continuously monitored the wind and as it veered, the whole course was quickly realigned between starts without anyone noticing. Overall, the Buoybots performed perfectly, allowing everyone to concentrate on sailing.
The prevailing NE summer winds bring the sea grass with it; the weed has a tendency to wrap itself around a boat’s keel and stop the boat. We will be back in early Autumn to race again.
A big thankyou to all of organisers and helpers who made this and every event possible.
