Scratch Race 6 4th Oct 2026

Once again, we had warm and sunny morning at the Manly Marina. We started at low tide which exposed the sand making launching and retrieval of boats easy.

The wind stayed around 3 knots, shifting from a Northerly to a Northeasterly during the morning. We did see some pressure coming down the course, although rare these gusts almost doubled the wind speed.

In the IOM fleet, Peter K. maintained a healthy lead and won with a substantial margin. John H came in second, with Stephen E who is working his way up the table coming third. Unfortunately, John Mc lost his mast during the ninth heat which dropped him to the bottom of the table.

Shane and Ian in the DF65 fleet made the most of the conditions, with a clear lead ahead of the rest of the fleet. Bob and Russell had some very close racing, changing places on the upwind legs numerous times.

It was a fun day on the water; many people stopped to ask about the boats and BuoyBots and a few families even stopped to watch the whole race.

Thanks again to the officers and helpers who made this race possible. Shout out to Slab who waded out to launch/retrieve the Buoybots.
