Clive Brooks, one of the club’s original members, kindly donated the IOM Handicap and Scratch race trophies, setting a tradition that continues to inspire. You can read more about Clive’s story on the WMRMYC website.

Following in these footsteps, our Vice Commodore, John McLachlan, generously provided both the Handicap and Scratch trophies for the DF65 fleet.

Race day delivered classic Brisbane winter vibes: warm sunshine and a mischievous westerly wind that reached 20 knots out in the bay. While the marina offered some shelter, sailors still found themselves battling swirling breezes and sneaky gusts, especially at the downwind mark, where roundings became a true adventure.

Throughout the heats, positions changed constantly, and anyone who could outsmart the wind had a shot at glory. By the end of the day, well-earned trophies went home with happy (and perhaps a little weary) competitors.

A huge thankyou goes out to the organisers, the ever-supportive team, and our unbeatable BBQ chief for serving up great sausages!
