Summer Series Scratch Race 5 1st March 2026
Despite a forecast for rain, fresh easterly winds (16 km/hr) created perfect race conditions on a warm sunny morning. Initially the wind direction was from the southeast before shifting eastly and picking up speed mid-morning.
Top marks magically produce their own “Bermuda triangle” and today was no exception with leading boats morphing from hero to zero. Sailors who had a good rounding took advantage of the wind gusts to consolidate their lead downwind.
Spectator numbers returned to usual levels, with many pausing to talk and watch the race unfold.
