It was a packed day on the water at Manly with two competitive fleets hitting the marks for the Handicap R5 series. Across both the DF65 and the IOM classes, 10 races were completed in what looked like a tactical day of sailing.

DF65 Handicap R5 Results

The DF65 fleet saw 12 boats compete, with Noel Eather taking the top spot on the podium after a very consistent performance.

Highlights:

  • Noel Eather (782) secured victory with two first-place finishes in Races 3 and 7.

  • John Dousi (94) showed great flashes of speed, winning Race 6.

  • Basil Lines (38) dominated the latter half of the day, securing back-to-back wins in Races 8 and 9 to climb to 7th overall.

IOM R5 Results

In the IOM fleet, Peter Harris piloted his AKA design to a narrow victory over Greg Martin. The racing was incredibly tight, with the top three sailors separated by fewer than 4 points.

Highlights:

  • Peter Harris (03) took control in the middle of the session with consecutive wins in Races 5 and 6.

  • Greg Martin (18) started the day strong with a win in Race 1 and finished strong with a win in Race 9.

  • Stephen Elkington (86) ended on a high note, clinching the final win of the day in Race 10.
