Winter Series Handicap Race 1 - 17th May 2026
It was a big day at the club today.
The day began with the AGM, which brought a few changes to the elected officers. We also noted the club’s 30th anniversary, with, as far as we know, just one original member still involved.
Showers were forecast, but the rain held off until after racing had finished. The wind started well, then dropped to calm before settling in from the southeast as a light but steady breeze.
Although the wind was light, we had some remarkably close racing as can be seen for the score sheets. In fact, three IOM sailors scored 27 points apiece! During the morning break we repositioned the BuoyBots to align the course with the “strengthening” South eastly wind. It was another wonderful day on the water, everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves.
The racing was followed by a BBQ (thanks again Peter) before the Summer Scratch and Handicap trophies were awarded. Even more trophies were then presented, the Commodore’s and Vice Commodore’s trophies for 2025/26.
Thanks to the club committee members who continue to drive the club forward. A special thank you to Basil for his many years of hard work as Treasurer. He will still be helping the new Treasurer, especially with counting the 20-cent pieces.
Thanks again to all the race officers and volunteers for putting together a great event.
