Sandi Sharps B2W - Sheep Station Trophy Practice Regatta - 31 March 2026
B2W Practice Regatta: The Sheep Station Trophy
Date: 31 March 2026
Location: Wynnum Wading Pool
The Conditions
Beginners who completed the 10 week introduction course showed off their learned skills by competing in Practice Regatta for the Sheep Station Trophy. The regatta at Wynnum Wading Pool was met with light rain and a steady 16kph wind coming from the southeast. With a temperature of 25°C, the conditions provided a damp but manageable challenge for the fleet of seventeen skippers vying for the Sheep Station Trophy.
After the race the team gathered at the Manly Boat Harbour Club for lunch to celebrate the completion of another successful Beginners to Winners Course.
Regatta Highlights
The competition was fierce across 10 races. Consistency proved to be the winning strategy in the light, wet conditions.
The Champion: Rob Green (Sail 370) secured the top spot on the podium with a total score of 15. Rob showed incredible form, specifically in the middle of the set with a 1st place in Race 2 and another in Race 5.
The Podium Finishers: Wayne Richter (Sail 635) took 2nd place with 24 points, narrowly edging out Will Thomson (Sail 73) who finished with 25 points. Both skippers stayed highly competitive, each securing at least one race win during the day.
Close Contenders: The battle for 4th was a tie-breaker between Nicolette Wiegers and David Stoner, both finishing on 26 points. Nicolette’s standout performance came in the final race, where she took the win.
Summary
Despite the light rain, the southeast breeze kept the DF65 fleet moving. Rob Green’s ability to recover from his discard (a 10th in Race 7) and maintain low scores throughout the rest of the day earned him the title. Congratulations to all skippers who braved the elements for a fantastic day of racing!
