Handicap Race 3 19th July 2026
What an exceptional day to test everyone’s skills in heavy conditions. The fleets faced a healthy southerly of 16 knots, gusting to 23 knots, making for challenging sailing and more nose dives than a Red Bull aerobatics team.
Half the fleet retired after the first race, leaving six IOMs and just three DF65s on the water.
In the DF65 fleet, Paul did a truly amazing job sailing on an “A rig”. Will and Russell battled the conditions on “B rigs” and swapped places numerous times. By the end of the day, Will had commanded first place.
In the one metre class, it was close racing, but Andrew couldn’t quite catch Ian and Greg.
What a great day. Everyone had fun and will no doubt be smiling all week as they make repairs to their boats.
