Winter Scratch Series R6 - 1st Oct 2023

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day.

The October northerlies have kicked in. I remember when Julie and I lived on a cruising yacht that we used to sail back down the coast from the Whitsunday Islands during October. Consistent 10-20 knot northerlies behind us all the way.

Back to the racing!!

Peter and Andrew set up the course up and down the channel parallel to the control area. Great fun dodging the IOM wind shadows, and indeed the IOM boats.

7 x IOM and 5 x DF65 competed with friendly banter. Steady 5-10 knot northerly winds.

By being lucky enough to be sailing in the harbour, we were all winners on the day. Results attached.

Following the racing we held a "Have a Go Sunday" where members of the public were invited to try RC sailing . We had 4 or 5 family groups have a go. Mainly young children.

We did a great job on encouraging people into the sport of sailing. Thanks to those who helped in particular Jeremy. We will do it again.

What's coming up.

1.Important to note that the 1650 Funday has been moved to the 22nd of October due to a clash with the DF65 Gold Coast Classic. Good luck to our DF65 members who have entered this regatta.

2.October 15 is the round 6 of the Winter Handicap Series.

3. October 22nd is 1650 Funday. Winning team prizes are bottles of wine. Sausage sizzle follows the event.

4. Also note that race fees for prize events (trophies and consumables) are $5 to cover prizes and sausage sizzle costs.

Ease your sheets

cheers
