Summer Scratch Series R4 - 4th February 2024

A beautiful morning greeted 20 skippers (10 x Df65 and 10 x IOM). A steady 5knot South easterly breeze provided excellent racing conditions.

Andrew set good courses for the two fleets using the Buoybots (great invention).

We spoke at the briefing about the need for all skippers to understand and comply with the racing rules. Russell used the whiteboard to go over the rules that apply when rounding the leeward /bottom mark. It is important that all skippers do penalties when they infringe the rules. Collisions , arguing about and not doing penalties is the major cause of "aggro" in RC yacht racing.

We trialled each skipper taking a turn at being the racing officer. The trial worked very well and we will adopt this format for future club events .

Congratulations to all skippers for making it a great morning sailed in good spirits.
